The State Veterinary and Food Institute is a state contributory organisation established by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic: it is also a specialised organisation for the performance of professional veterinary activities and the provision of services of laboratory diagnostics and testing, veterinary food hygiene, veterinary hygiene and ecology and education within the meaning of the Act of the National Council of the Slovak Republic No. 39/2007 Coll. on veterinary care and on amendment and supplementation of some other acts, whose main activities and details of their organisational structure are regulated by the statute approved by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Slovak Republic.
The subject of its activity is to carry out laboratory and clinical diagnostics and testing on the territory of the Slovak Republic, and, if necessary, confirmatory and expert examinations also outside the territory of the Slovak Republic, in the ways and under the conditions laid down in the generally applicable binding regulations, and it carries out tasks in these activities within the meaning of the decision of the State Veterinary and Food Administration of the Slovak Republic.
The State Veterinary and Food Institutes Bratislava, Dolný Kubín, Košice and the State Veterinary Institute Zvolen have been organisationally incorporated into a new organisation, the State Veterinary and Food Institute with the registered office at Jánoškova 1611/58, 026 01 Dolný Kubín, ID No 42355613, since 1 January 2014 by decision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic.
Since 2 January 2014, all four workplaces have been working as accredited entities in the unchanged scope of provided diagnostic services. They are authorised to issue accredited protocols for all tests performed.
